What is a hackathon and why should I attend?

A hackathon is an event where people come together to create solutions to real world problems using technology. It provides an excellent opportunity to shape your ideas into prototypes and observe their viability. You will also meet many people who share your passions!

Who can attend?

PeddieHacks is open to all high schoolers.

Do I need to have programming experience?

Absolutely not! This hackathon is for both novice and experienced programmers who want to apply their skills to solve real problems in the world. You can easily learn some programming on the spot or contribute to your team through graphic design, interface design, etc.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! This hackathon is free to all high schoolers, all you need to bring is ideas and a postive attitude. All gifts and resources are free of charge courtesy of our wonderful sponsors!

Do I need a team and what is the size of each team?

No! You do not need a team, but feel free to come with one. If you don’t have a team, you will have an opportunity to meet other people and form your own teams before the competition begins. There is a maximum of 4 people per team, but you can work on a project individually as well.

Are there any prizes?

Yes! We have over $10,000 in prizes and over $500 in raffle prizes that anyone can win! Check out the Prizes page for more information!

Is there a theme?

Yes, the theme will be announced at the opening ceremony on August 22.
